Ok... anybody here seen office space?

So, I've been saying that I like my intern because it's good excercise, moving books and such. But, sadly, I havn't been taking into mind the considerations of my boss. This monday, he made me carry 100 dictionary-sized books up the stairs; along with reassembling about 20 shelves. I put the books on the shelves, then I checked up with him. He came over to check, stared for a bit, said "Wow, theres more space than I thought. Take them all down."; I was filled with rage. I took them down, then he made me move 300 PHONEBOOKS; floppy, they fall out of every shelf you try to put them into. He made me move them into where the Book Digests were (the books I just moved twice); to find out that THEY DIDN'T FIT. So.. overcome with an indescribable sense of rage, I asked, in a sense joking tone, as if talking with the devil himself; "So.. do you have any other interns?" "Uh, yeah, I have one that comes in on Saturday, she-" "She? What does SHE do?" "I'd rather not say- (mumbles about sexism)" "Alright, well I'm signing out, I'm tired.".

I signed out on the sheet for volunteers, we write what we did each time we sign out. Mine says "Moved books, reshelved books, assembled shelves, disassembled shelves." etc, crap that ways 80 pounds. Then, I found the other volunteer... "Cut out pictures for a collage, pasted pictures for a collage."

So... uh... yeah. I think I'm gonna protest for my intern now.

"Hey Glenn, what did you do for your internship last year?"
"Me? Hmmm.. I protested intern abuse."
"Heh, wow, thats more educational than anything I've ever learned in this program."

[End Rant]
Oh, and I'm not done yet, he expects me to continue monday. Expects is a very fun word in the english language.

First day on the job

So, I finally managed to get my WLE up today, and I gotta admit, working in a library is actually rather fun. The combination of the smell, the silence, and the dozens of decent people all around you create this feel-good atmosphere. Whats really nice about working in a library is the fact that they rely on volunteers to get the hard stuff done, making the librarians really easygoing when it comes to the quality and skill of your work; but I'm not slacking. I worked in the middle school library so I already have experience so they didn't need to train me on the Duey Decimal System and OCD stuff like that. However, I'm pretty much the packmule of the library, so I do things like moving shelves and books. Sure, I'll admit, I spent most of today moving encyclopedias. But, it's good exercise and theres an Original Buffalo Wings down the street that I look forward to each time I work, and next time he says that he'll have a project for me.

Looking for an Internship

I have been offered an internship at a library, however, I would rather intern at a firestation because it would probably be more entertaining and I interned for a librarian in the 8th grade anyways.
